Organic Week - Organic Wine !

Sep 04, 2019

We are compelled to provide our guests not only with notable dishes fresh from our organic farm in Jamberoo, but also outstanding organic wines.

So what do we know about organic wines? Less powerful hangovers, fewer chemicals, and kinder to the environment – it's no wonder organic wine is booming in Australia

But, there has been much conversation of late regarding whether a wine can be both organic and good quality.

I'd like to offer my two-cents; I have the utmost respect for organic-winemakers, the dedication required to yield a significant plump crop without the additions of sulphites and pesticides is a challenge.

When you don't use chemicals, growers are required to boost their vineyard’s biodiversity; such as introducing cover crops to provide a habitat for beneficial insects that are the natural enemy of problem species, or have small sheep graze between the vine rows, eating the grass and weeds. In this way, the vineyard becomes a self-regulating, natural ecosystem, which is able to combat problems intrinsically and eliminates the need for artificial, and potentially toxic, chemicals.

For organic awareness month, why not try an organic wine we promise you'll never forget (for all the right reasons!). Our latest addition, Obsodian Shiraz by Gemtree from Mclaren Vale is simply stunning.

When you come across something this good it’s a true reflection of their craftsmanship, passion and the expression of the vine and terroir.

“FUN FACT: organic wine is on the rise among wine lovers, accounting for 6.9% of the total organic market!”
